To My Son
“Please remember what I told you: always fight for what is right.”
I missed your first graduation, and that pain weighs heavily on my heart. As your father, missing such a profound milestone is something I never imagined, and I will carry that regret always. But I promise you this—going forward, I will be there. For every achievement, every challenge, and every step you take toward your future, I will stand beside you.
This fight for justice has taken so much—not just from me, but from you. As a parent to an autistic child, my role is more than just being present; it’s about giving you stability, understanding, and unwavering love. Missing your appointments, the routines that bring you comfort, and the precious moments we once shared—those have been the hardest losses for me in all of this.
But the hardest thing—the one that weighs on me the most—was being locked away from you for 40 days the first time. I had to put you out of my mind just to get through it, hoping the court would do the right thing. And when they locked me up again in November for a probation violation, those 15 days were pure hell. Dang, son, the courts aren’t supposed to punish the innocent.
Please know that the battle I’m fighting, the sacrifices I’ve made, and the time I’ve lost—it was never by choice. But I had no other option. I had to stand for the truth, for justice, for us. Even in the moments when I am not physically there, I need you to understand that you are my reason. My strength. My purpose.
Through all of this, God has sent the right people to guide and help you when you needed it most. No matter how difficult the road has been, no matter the obstacles we have faced, we have never been alone. And soon, this battle will be over.
I will return—not just as your father, but as a stronger man. And I will make up for every moment lost. I will be present. I will be unwavering. And I will always fight for you.
With all my love, Dad
Justice means transparency.
